This quiet and unspoilt area of Northumberland provides huge scope for exploration. Why not take a few days to get to know this remarkable location, with its wild landscapes and rich Roman history?

A day’s walk in either direction from Beggar Bog and Housesteads will take you along what are widely regarded as the most scenic and untamed sections of Hadrian’s Wall. The excellent AD122 bus service will drop you at your chosen starting point, from where you can walk back to Beggar Bog.

However, walking along the wall provides only a partial picture of this area. There are many quiet bridleways, seldom-trodden paths and other attractions close by for you to explore. Why not visit our gallery to see some of the differing landscapes that our area has to offer?
